School Readiness - Creating Lifelong Learners

By considering the fundamental role of Early Years in establishing children as lifelong learners this course will look at School Readiness as not just preparing for an academic journey that starts in Reception but as offering children the experiences required to enable all future learning experiences to take root.

By identifying and examining the features of lifelong learning this course will critically consider more traditional ideas and measures of school readiness, reminding ourselves of the unique possibilities inherent in the Early Years.  By offering practitioners a fresh view of supporting children in ways that explore the nature of learning in all its beauty of enquiry, this course will consider how best to offer this to our children in ways too compelling to ignore.

This four session course can be delivered over four evenings of three hours, or over two days. Delegates can attend all four sessions, or session 1 followed by the age of particular interest;
1.      An introduction to Creating Lifelong Learners; a new approach to school readiness.
2.      Working specifically with 0-2 year olds.
3.      Working specifically with 2 -3 year olds.
4.      Working specifically with 4-5 year olds.
